Is there a way to reduce glare on a plasma screen tv?
I know the obvious, reducing light, getting curtains, etc, but we are having a very difficult time viewing our new plasma. It is large there is only one place which works for placement. Unfortunately it is at an angle which faces 4 windows and the overhead light. Aside from watching tv at night time, we are not sure what to do. I have heard of films, screens, and sprays. Any thoughts or suggestions on any such products?

Films screens and sprays would only risk damaging the screen.
Unfortunately screens, curtains are about the only effective thing. Now you don’t have to eliminate all light, but preventing direct glare can be effective.
So get net curtains, you’ll need to use twice the amount of curtain netting per width of the window, this helps bunch it up.
Also change the overhead light shade, to one which distributes the light, instead of allowing the bare bulb from being able to shine directly on the screen. IKEA does white globe shaped light shades which are perfect for that.
Again it’s direct sources of light shining on the screen which are the worst for glare, like direct sunlight, and bare light bulbs. So try to prevent those first.
Other things that can help are moving furniture or indoor plants to try to block the light.
When we bought our new TV, we were asked about the lighting in our home. When we mentioned we had a room full of windows, they steered us away from the Plasma. The glare is the #1 reason they said they have plasmas returned.
I don’t think there are any films or sprays that I would trust… You could return the TV or your could ruin it for good. I’d return it and look for an LCD in your situation. The LEDs also produce some glare, but the Plasmas are the worst offenders.
